Get to Know Us
It's been a wild ride in the UP! In 2014, some buddies took a snowmobile trip to Ontonagon, and for Tim Thorn, it was love at first site. We came to the Upper Peninsula with some old, beat-up 4 wheelers and quickly fell in love with the rugged terrain, mud holes, and dynamic trails. We went back in the winter with our sleds and found the same excitement.
The second trip was made with several families, including kids, and we stayed at a nice Airbnb on Indianhead Mountain in Wakefield. That was when Tim knew he wanted to buy a place here. In the fall of 2015, he purchased Wedel Haus. Then, in 2016, we acquired Log Home and in 2017, the Red Lodge. All of them needed some TLC, and we are proud of the updates we have made thus far.
Our Property
In 2021, Tim and friends talked about needing more space for gatherings and outdoor toys. A good Yooper buddy mentioned the Regal Country Inn was for sale. We had no clue there was a hotel in Wakefield. In August 2016, Tim and his buddies took the dive into a 20-room hotel that needed a LOT of renovation and repairs. On December 15, 2021, Snow Chaser's Lodge officially opened. And to top it off, we opened White Pine, a family-style home close to The Porkies in August 2023.
